The Fitness Train ("we", "us", the "Site") is a small, independently-run fitness-tracking and social site. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what we do with it.

Information we collect

  • Account information: the username, email address, and password you provide when you sign up.
  • Profile information: anything you choose to add to your profile — display name, bio, location, gender, and any photos you upload.
  • Activity data: workouts, exercises, and runs you log, comments you post, shoes you track, and who you follow. This is the core content of the Site, and is visible to other users as part of using it.
  • Technical data: IP addresses are logged for failed login attempts, to detect and block brute-force attacks against accounts.

Cookies and third-party services

  • Essential cookies: a session cookie (to keep you logged in) and a CSRF-protection cookie. The Site doesn't function without these.
  • Google reCAPTCHA: the signup page uses Google's reCAPTCHA to block automated bot signups. Google receives some information about your device and browsing behavior to do this — see Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand overall site traffic and usage in aggregate. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data to third parties, and we don't share it with anyone beyond the service providers above (Google, and our email/hosting providers, solely to operate the Site).

Your data

Most of your profile and activity data is editable or removable directly from the Site. For anything else — including requesting a copy of your data or deleting your account entirely — contact us at [insert contact email].

Children's privacy

The Fitness Train is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
